Jared Colley
About Me
Jared teaches British literature courses at The Oakridge School where he also chairs the English department and serves as co-chair of the Academic Steering Committee. He also directs and designs professional development programming for all faculty and staff at Oakridge in partnership with the legendary Michelle Vaughn, Director of Technology and Modern Learning.
Jared also serves as a Network Leader for Online Education Strategies for Independent Schools (OESIS), and along with his comrade, Nick Dressler from De Smet Jesuit High School, he is currently designing an online course for educators on grading and assessment practices. The course challenges participants to rethink grading for purposes of making it more transparent, more equitable, and more motivational.
When Jared isn’t teaching or working with educators, he enjoys hanging with his family, listening to records, and reading anything he can get his hands on.
“Give, not the key to knowledge, but the consciousness of what an intelligence can do when it considers itself equal to any other and considers any other equal to itself” (Jacques Ranciere The Ignorant Schoolmaster).
